Children’s Grief & Bereavement

"Perhaps they are not stars but rather openings in heaven, where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy."

- Unknown

Although we cannot always protect our children from loss, we can play a significant and beautiful role in helping them feel safe, secure, and loved as they move through it. We can model what healthy grief looks like, we can embrace the complexity and depth of the human experience, and we can show them that, together, we can work through difficult experiences until the sadness ebbs and the joy of remembrance shines through.

My hope is to support parents through mindfully facilitating conversations on death and dying, equipping them with the language and tools to best communicate to their child, and helping to build confidence to navigate the questions they may be asked.

Together, we’ll work within four important Pillars of Care:

Communication:

We’ll discuss information and education on how to speak to the children in your life about Death, Dying & Grief.

Together we’ll formulate a plan to facilitate conversations with the children in your life; including child-friendly resources so that you are prepared for the questions that they may ask.

Community:

We can create and connect you to community, including resource building, so that you are well supported.

We can create a plan that incorporates your family and friends so that they know how to best support you/your child at this time.

Care:

We’ll go over resources and tools that you can use to integrate self care and support for yourself and your children.

Connection:

When walking difficult paths, we often have trouble expressing what we feel. Through different forms of creative expression, the creation of legacy projects and exploring the power of holding sacred space; we can help to move our emotions from our internal world to the external. This ultimately helps us to clarify our intentions, honor our experience, and create an anchor to return to in difficult times. Together we can remain connected to our loved ones and gently move from feeling stuck into a place of acceptance.
